MPower marked a decade of its Executive Forum series at Westin Manila, bringing together over 200 business leaders to provide significant national updates and insights aimed at empowering its partners to drive growth and innovation within their organizations. Entitled “2025 Economic Outlook and Harnessing the Power of Nuclear,” the forum was graced by renowned economist Dr. Bernardo Villegas, and Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI) Director Dr. Carlo Arcilla, who both provided relevant discussions on the country’s economic trajectory and the role of nuclear energy in energy security and sustainability.
“This forum reflects MPower’s continuous commitment to our partners to fostering opportunities for continuous learning and collaboration,” said Senior Assistant Vice President Mr. Eddie John Adug as he opened the program.
Dr. Bernardo Villegas’ discussion on the economic outlook highlighted the country’s strong economic resilience that positions the Philippines as still one of the fastest growing economies in Asia. Amidst long-term challenges, he said that the government’s national socioeconomic agenda includes strategies to uplift agriculture, promote trade and investment, accelerate economic growth across regions beyond NCR, advance a green economy, and empower the Filipino workforce. With these interventions, the Philippines is anticipated to be among the top 25 economies of the World Economic League by 2035.
On the energy progress side, Dr. Carlo Arcilla provided a comprehensive presentation on the nuclear energy development in the country, breaking the negative stigma on its safety concerns. Following the path of progressive countries, he emphasized that the nuclear energy is essential in addressing the Philippines’ power crisis, offering both stability and environmental sustainability.
“It’s been a decade of learning opportunities as MPower continues to explore critical industry topics and build confidence in our partners for the road ahead,” First Vice President and MPower Head Redel Domingo said in his closing speech. Highlighting MPower’s consistent retail excellence in its 11 years of service, Mr. Domingo also shared the organization’s role in boosting a sustainable future through its value-adding services in compliance with the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Law, the CommuniTrees project, and its educational CSR program, the Back to School Donation Drive.
The 2024 Executive Forum was hosted and moderated by ANC News Anchor Ms. Michelle Ong. Since 2014, MPower’s vast line-up of seminars and foras tackled relevant topics on leadership strategies, corporate sustainability, business trends, and energy updates. More than electricity, MPower’s partners are ensured to be abreast with the latest developments to effectively run their businesses and contribute to national economic growth.
