On March 9, 2019, over a hundred players from 19 MPower partner companies enjoyed playing their favorite sport and bonding over burgers and booze at the 4th MPower Partners Badminton Cup, held at the Meralco Fitness Center.
Guests arrived early and received their official playing shirts, company banners, and complimentary Pocari Sweat drinks upon registration. Everyone was in for a treat as the official hydration partner, Pocari Sweat, made sure that everyone was at the optimal level of hydration as they played in the tournament, with their free drink refills. Event partners Li-Ning, Mizuno, and Yonex set up their own booths and provided exclusive offers of up to 50% discount. As a result, everyone stepped up their A-game as they equipped themselves ready for the tournament.
SAVP and Head of Retail Sales, Emman de Ramos, officially welcomed the players, while Pocari Sweat Events Officer, Recca Sumcad, provided an informative talk about proper hydration. This was shortly followed by the discussion of the tournament format and guidelines presented by Tournament Director and MPower Strategic Account Manager (SAM) Rose Ann Navor.
No tournament would be complete without the oath of sponsorship; which Ian Ramos professionally delivered; while host, Kat Royo (SAM) riled up the crowd with her witty remarks.
SVP and MPower Head Jobert Almazora led the ceremonial toss together with eight other executives, including Ms. Irene Jose, COO of Uniprom. Inc. (Araneta Group); Hui Guan Gan, President of Astec Power Philippines Inc.; Ms. Carmen Francisco, CFO of Interphil Laboratories Inc.; Mr. Eric Eguia, AVP of Maynilad; Mr. Bong Padiz, AVP – Finance of PLDT; Mr. Ed Tiongco, Jr., AVP - Operations of Rombe Philippines Inc.; Mr. Dan Lachica, President of SEIPI; and Mr. Nelson Rafer, COO of Yazaki Torres Mfg. Inc.
At the end of the tournament, SVP and MPower Head, Jobert Almazora, recognized 12 pairs who emerged victorious as champions and runners-up in their respective categories.
