Breaking Down RA 11285: The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act
April 6, 2021
In line with its mission to continuously create avenues for learning for its valued partners, MPower, in partnership with Vantage Energy and Meralco Power Academy, recently conducted a Partners’ Forum on RA 11285: Energy Efficiency & Conservation (EEC) Act. The forum was held to help customers understand the salient points of the law and how it will impact their respective organizations.

Attended by more than 300 professionals representing 115 industry players and stakeholders, this virtual forum is the second online event held by MPower and the most attended so far. Three UNIDO-DOE National Experts on Energy Management Systems facilitated the discussions for the forum. The first talk, led by Engr. Robert “Bob” Jarquio, introduced the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the law. It was followed by a dialogue on implementing and managing Energy Management Systems by Engr. Rommel Benig. The discussions were wrapped up by Engr. Eugene Araullo with an overview of the impact and risks of RA 11285. The forum also provided a space for participants to ask some of their pressing questions to the resource speakers.

The EEC Act was initialized by the Department of Energy to institutionalize the practice of energy efficiency and conservation by providing guidelines on how corporations can enhance their efficient use of energy and by granting incentives to the EEC projects of organizations.

In coordination with Meralco Power Academy (MPA), the premier energy education provider, MPower shall continue to educate its partners on the current trends and changes in the energy landscape.
