The MPower Badminton Team was once again crowned overall champion in the 2016 SEIPI Badminton Tournament on November 26, 2016 at the Winner Badminton Court, Sta. Rosa, Laguna. 18 teams participated in this smash session, including MPower partners such as Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (HGST), NXP Semiconductors, and Temic Automotive, among others.
Top management from various companies participated in the ceremonial toss to signify the official opening of the tournament; including Dan Lachica, President of SEIPI; Jilian Dela Rosa, Ethical Marketing Specialist of Pocari Sweat; Edwin Kahanap, Site Management & Production Planning Director of Lattice Semiconductor; Neilo Bandelaria, Manufacturing Director of Ampleon; and MPower’s very own Strategic Account Manager, Allan Abrojena.
The participating teams sought to attain 1
st place in all 6 categories. After an intense and exciting finals, the MPower Badminton Team successfully defended their title as overall champion bagging 5 placements in total, with IMI and HGST rounding out the top three teams of the tournament.
The MPower Badminton Team won Gold medals in the Women’s Doubles category, represented by Fatima Cruz & Dang Ildefonso for Level A, and Rose Ann Navor & Joan Robles for Level B. Renz Vivas & Patrique Magnaye won silver in the Level A Men's Doubles category, while MPower’s very own SAM, Allan Abrojena, with teammate Descka Calimlim, emerged as champions in the Level B Mixed Doubles category.
Next year’s tournament will surely be a must-watch as participants will need to defend their claim to the overall championship, yet again.
