Meralco, in partnership with Department of Energy (DOE), held a refresher forum on the Interruptible Load Program (ILP) for contestable customers at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Meralco Center, Pasig City on March 30, 2016.
DOE expects power requirements to surge in the coming summer months due to the El Niño phenomenon and the May 2016 elections. ILP aims to mitigate this potential power supply deficiency through the help of companies with generating facilities. With this, Meralco coordinated with the different Retail Electricity Suppliers (RES), to invite their customers, especially those which have not yet joined the program, to attend the forum for better understanding and appreciation of the ILP.
The event started with a discussion of the 2016 power supply outlook by DOE Director, Ms. Irma C. Exconde. Meralco also discussed how to participate in the program and what to expect as participants.
