MPower and Partners Inaugurate 9th Kinder Classroom
June 14, 2019
MPower collaborates once again with 17 of its partners for the annual Kinder Classroom Project. This year’s deserving beneficiary is Halang Elementary School in Naic, Cavite. The school has an estimated student body population of 2,000 students, 150 of which are kinder pupils. In previous years, the school conducted three kinder classes in one room intended for grade school students, with a teacher to student ratio of 1:40. In compliance with the Department of Education’s standards, the new classroom provided a more conducive learning environment that benefitted a hundred Kinder pupils and more in the future years to come. The new fully furnished one-storey Kinder classroom is replete with its own multimedia equipment, educational books, early childhood development toys, its own boys’ and girls’ washroom, and a beautiful mural that highlights unique Filipino values.

The 9th MPower Kinder Classroom’s inauguration was marked on June 14, 2019 and its success would not have been possible if it were not for the generous support and participation of MPower’s partners namely: AGC Flat Glass Philippines, Inc. (jalousies), Ashlar Industrial Corporation (cash), Atlanta Industries Corporation (armchairs), Cofta Mouldings Inc. (kiddie tables and chairs), Pacific Paint (Boysen) Philippines, Inc. (paint), Eagle Cement Corporation (cement), EMD Technologies Philippines Inc. (cash), Eurotiles Industrial Corp. (tiles), Glades International Corporation (painting volunteers), Moldex Products, Inc. (cash), Shin-Etsu Magnetics Philippines, Inc. (cash), Styrotech Corporation (notebooks) and Universal Steel Smelting Company Inc. (steel bars).

The inauguration started with a ribbon cutting ceremony led by Dr. Saturnino Hernandez – District Supervisor, Division of Naic, Cavite, Mrs. Verna Avilla – Principal of Halang Elementary School, Mr. Roberto R. Almazora – Senior Vice President and Head of MPower; and Mr. Jeffrey O. Tarayao – President of One Meralco Foundation. Mrs. Rowena Alaman – Master Teacher at Halang Elementary School welcomed partners and guests. Students from different levels showed their appreciation through folk dance and skit that depicted the joint effort and collaboration of MPower and its partners to uplift Filipino education. Mr. Almazora then thanked its partners who in turn partook in this worthwhile endeavor, while Principal Avilla and Dr. Hernandez also thanked all stakeholders for their generosity. The program concluded with a very hilarious puppet performance by Wanlu, 2019’s International Ventriloquist of the Year for Asia and Hall of Famer awardee for “Talentadong Pinoy”, followed by distribution of school kits to all elementary students care of National Bookstore.
It has been MPower’s vision, together with its partners, to give back to the community by providing quality education to the next generation of Filipinos. To date, MPower and its partners have built 9 kinder classrooms that benefitted more than 1,800 kinder pupils since the launch of the Kinder Classroom Project in 2015.
