For three solid years and to continue carrying out MPower’s commitment to light up a brighter future for the next generations, MPower and donor Partners provided and inaugurated a two-storey, 4-classroom building on June 14 at San Antonio Elementary School in San Pedro, Laguna. This new design innovation, with the building's 2nd floor convertible to a multi-purpose hall, is the first of its kind and has become a new standard among the Department of Education’s educational facilities designs.
This ambitious project and collective mission was made possible through the generosity of MPower’s partners, namely; AGC Flat Glass Philippines, Inc. San Antonio Elementary School Principal Lanie Roman officially opened the program with her welcome remarks. MPower’s Senior Vice President and Head, Mr. Roberto Almazora thanked the partners for their support through his special message. Participating companies partook in the ceremonial turnover of classrooms and multi-purpose hall by assembling building blocks that formed a 3D scaled version of the new building. The program ended with a heartfelt song number from our beneficiaries to the tune of “Salamat” followed by distribution of Project Aral Kits c/o partners from MPower partner National Bookstore.
San Antonio Elementary School has a total population of 1,700 pupils, with 270 Kinder pupils that will benefit from this project. The latter used to share 2 classrooms built during the President Marcos' regime and 1 makeshift room to accommodate 8 classes in a day. Thanks to MPower and its partners, these children can now enjoy a more conducive learning environment complete with murals, books, toys and multimedia equipment that will surely advance the quality of education in the area.
