Last November 5, 2019, MPower, in partnership with Vantage Energy, conducted another run of its Executive Forum Series entitled “The 2020 Philippine Economic Outlook and Trends in Corporate Sustainability” at the Marco Polo Hotel, Ortigas, Pasig City.
Close to a hundred customers from 65 different companies gathered for a lively discussion on economics, business modelling and sustainability. Joining the esteemed set of speakers this year are award-winning economist and professor, Dr. Bernardo Villegas, veteran business advisor and professor of marketing & sustainability, Prof. Richard Cruz, and former DPWH Secretary and current Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGen) President and CEO, Mr. Rogelio Singson.
Dr. Bernardo Villegas delivered his highly-anticipated talk on Philippine economic forecasts and prospects. The attendees were delighted to know that the Philippines will rank second in the list of Top Ten Emerging Markets in the Global Economy in the next decade. Dr. Villegas stated that a variety of factors contributed to the nation’s bright economic outlook. This includes the growing English-speaking population, lower inflation rate and growing domestic demand.
The second talk was delivered by Asian Institute of Management (AIM) professor and business model innovator, Prof. Richard Cruz. He emphasized that with the changing business climate, it is vital for companies to continuously innovate their business strategies. He presented different business model archetypes businesses can adopt to obtain optimal business sustainability and efficiency.
Former DPWH Secretary and MGen President and CEO, Mr. Rogelio Singson, was the last speaker for this year’s forum. Partners were engaged in an interesting dialogue about the principles of sustainability and was also introduced to the Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI), an organization that measures and reports a business’ commitment to sustainability.
Following the enriching talks was a lively panel discussion where guest speakers answered questions posed by the attendees. Mr. Roberto Almazora, SVP and MPower Head, delivered the closing remarks to culminate this annual event.
This learning event is the fifth installment in MPower’s Executive Forum Series and is offered to partner C-level executives as a value-added service. Its main objective is to encourage high-level dialogue to foster learning and provoke meaningful and relevant discussions.
