As a value-added service extended for its partners, MPower and Vantage Energy held a workshop entitled, “Meeting the Demands of the Occupational Health and Safety Standards Law” on February 12-14, 2019 at the Meralco Compound, Pasig City.
This 3-day workshop, which was provided by an accredited service provider, Meralco Power Academy, aimed to help MPower and Vantage Energy customers comply with the new requirements of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). On December 6, 2018, DOLE signed the Department Order No. 198, which details the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) for the implementation of the Republic Act (R.A. 11058), also known as the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS) law. The IRR specifies standards for a safe and healthy workplace, and non-compliance to these standards would entail daily penalties.
Engr. Lawrence Blas, Engr. II at the Occupational Safety and Health Center in Quezon City, elaborated on the contents of the IRR. Dr. Albert Asprec, Managing Partner of Asprec Manalo OSH Co. (AMOSH), together with other AMOSH safety experts, Engr. Richard Santos and Mr. Ronald Baniqued, facilitated the program and helped the participants craft their own safety program to partially complete the requirements of DOLE. AMOSH is a Safety Training Organization accredited by DOLE to conduct safety and health training, nationwide.
45 participants from 45 companies attended the event.
