MPower and Vantage Energy Hold Forum on Economic and Business Trends
November 28, 2018
MPower held a customer forum entitled, “The Philippine Economic Outlook and Disruptive Trends in Business” on November 6, 2018 at the Marco Polo Ortigas, Pasig City.

Annually, MPower holds an executive forum to provide their c-level partners with information on the latest business trends and communicate how these can potentially affect their businesses in the coming years. Previous years’ fora covered topics including Energy Efficiency, Philippine Economic Outlook, Changes in the Power Industry in Australia, and Digital Transformation.

This year, MPower again invited multi-awarded economist, author and professor, Dr. Bernardo Villegas, to discuss the Philippines’ economic outlook for 2019. Dr. Villegas talked about the current concerns in the country, specifically, higher inflation, rising interest rates, weakening peso and political noise. He assured us that despite these concerns, the Philippines will remain to have a resilient economy.

Dr. William Byun, global expert in renewable energy, biofuels and climate change, discussed the business of climate change, not primarily as a corporate social responsibility, but also as a source of new revenue and funding monetization. Head of Tax Services at Reyes Tacandong Co., Atty. Rafael Ma. Vinzon, then tackled the controversial TRAIN 2.

The forum was held in partnership with Vantage Energy Solutions and Management, Inc., the first affiliate Retail Electricity Supplier of MERALCO. It was well attended, with over 80 customers from over 40 companies gracing the event.
