It was a stormy day, but despite the heavy downpour, all registered players showed up for the inaugural MPower Partners Badminton Cup held on August 13, 2016 at the Meralco Fitness Center. Fifty-six (56) Badminton enthusiasts came together to play, network and have a smashing good time with fellow representatives from various MPower partner companies and industries.
To welcome and greet guests, AVP & Retail Sales Head Emman de Ramos, gave the opening remarks while host and Sales Planning and Programs Officer, Ais Talavera, riled up the crowd and got everyone on the edge of their seats with the amazing raffle items that were up for grabs.
Allan Dilla explained the rules of play and tournament guidelines. Top management from various companies led the ceremonial toss signifying the official opening of the tournament; including Mr. Naoya Tsokamoto, Japanese Support for Engineering of Ibiden Philippines, Inc.; Mr. Eric Eguia, AVP & Head, Water Network of Maynilad; Mr. Richard Lin, General Manager of Midland Steel Corporation; Mr. Ding Paras, VP, Operations of Rombe Philippines Inc.; Mr. Dan Lachica, President of SEIPI and MPower’s very own SVP and Head, Mr. Jobert Almazora. While waiting for their turn to play, guests enjoyed the karaoke setup at the Multi-Purpose Hall as they belted out to some of their favorite tunes. MPower also treated the participants to unlimited, 100% pure Angus beef burgers from Burger Joint to add to the fun.
The tournament’s participating companies included AGC Flat Glass Philippines, Inc., Araneta Center Inc., Eagle Cement Corporation, ePLDT, Ibiden Philippines, Inc., Maynilad, Midland Steel Corporation, PLDT, Robinsons Land Corporation, Rombe Philippines Inc. and industry association SEIPI.
Rain or shine, MPower Partners smashed ‘til they dropped… until next year’s tournament!
